Maiden Voyage - (Acting)
Maiden Voyage charts the first all-female patrol aboard a US submarine. We are spectators in these women’s lives, as mechanics and interpersonal relationships go awry. Motivated by a subconscious need to overcompensate for gender inequity, The Captain slowly chips away at her integrity in order to have a successful mission. This play explores the intersection between opportunity and marginalization and the mimicry of toxic masculinity to get ahead.

As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible.

Her mismatched students bring their own agendas to class: Samantha doodles instead of writing, when she isn’t high; George comes late; Bobbi talks too much; May barely says a word; and Eileen threatens to quit because Di is not the famous man who was supposed to teach. Everybody has histories to reveal. Some of them are even true. When violence claims one of the group, are stories enough to put things back together?

ASSEMBLY - (Assistant Stage Managing)
Rooted in his interdisciplinary practice spanning over a decade, Assembly, Rashaad Newsome’s 2022 commission for the Park Avenue Armory Wade Thompson Drill Hall incorporates artificial intelligence, 3D animation, holography, sound, collage, vinyl and sculpture to create a “Black gestalten language.” The multimedia work features poets, musicians, vocalists, and dancers from around the globe, presenting unique movements that synthesize vogue with the traditional dances of their territories. Assembly makes the power embedded in Black creative expression visible and tells the story of how ballroom culture – created by disenfranchised black and Latinx queer youth – found its way to the global stage. The performance mirrors the ever-evolving nature of diasporic dance and draws parallels between the dance and the Black American experience.

Following this spring’s sold-out run of AFTERWARDSNESS, renowned director, choreographer, and dancer Bill T. Jones returns to Park Avenue Armory to present and perform in the world premiere of his massive new work, Deep Blue Sea, which revolves around the interplay of single and group identities. Jones, Janet Wong, and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company conceived this highly personal work in pursuit of the elusive “we” during these fractious times through a cast of 100 dancers/community members, and a deconstructed text from Martin Luther King Jr.‘s “I Have a Dream” and Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.

This domestic drama centers on the return home of their daughter, Ruth, as the family tries to navigate social and familial expectations in the wake of loss that echoes through the generations.
